Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens Is The Movie Of The Year (Non-Spoiler Review)

Recommended Videos

Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens is now out and it’s a movie that actually lives up to the hype. It’s everything you would want in a blockbuster and it pays great homage to the original Star Wars trilogy.

I will not discuss any spoilers for the movie yet, but it does borrow elements from A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. However, it does add some fresh new ideas and leaves some elements that will be found out for the films to come.

One of the best things about Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens is that it actually has proper character build-up. The best characters that get the most fleshed-out stories are Rey and Finn. These characters are nothing like the whiny and annoying iterations of Anakin Skywalker that we got from Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen.

Rey and Finn are also played by far better actors than the ones we saw in the prequels. Daisy Ridley shines in what is essentially her first movie role. She is tough and feisty while John Boyega manages to be both sympathetic and funny at the same time. Rey and Finn are my favorite new characters in the movie.

Adam Driver is also excellent in his role as Kylo Ren. I won’t discuss who he is yet, but the character is menacing and strong. He also gets far more screen time than Darth Maul did in The Phantom Menace. Driver also shows a lot more range than Hayden Christensen too.

Han Solo, Chewbacca and Leia are in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens and they will appeal to fans of the originals. I actually teared up seeing these characters on the big screen. I was too young to see the originals in the cinema, so it was something special seeing these iconic characters on the big screen for the very first time.

The pace of the movie is excellent with humor and a lot of action. There is a bit of everything in this movie such as space battles, laser gun fights and lightsaber duels. You won’t see the boring council meetings or political debates that were all in the prequels.

In comparison to other blockbusters released in 2015, Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens was the only film that gave me every type of emotion while watching it. I cried tears of joys, tears of sadness, yet I also laughed a lot of times and smiled too. It is the only movie out in 2015 that resonated all my emotions.

It’s hard for me to say if this this movie is better than the original trilogy. I will say that it’s a great movie and that it might be my favorite film in recent years since Toy Story 3 and The Dark Knight. I will say I liked this film a lot better than Avengers: Age of Ultron and it was better than Jurassic World.

Overall, Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens is an awesome sequel that is miles better than any of the prequels. If you are a Star Wars fan, you should definitely check it out.
