Insomniac Games done with Resistance franchise

Developer moving away from Resistance, focused on multiplatform.

According to Insomniac CEO Ted Price, the developer won't be making any more Resistance titles. Bluntly put in a recent interview CVG, "We won't be making any more Resitances," the CEO said. So what does this mean for Sony and one of the PlayStation 3's biggest franchises? Well, it means that Insomniac won't be at the helm if Sony decides to continue on with the franchise.

Resistance 3 which launched last year was arguably the best title of the trilogy, but apparently Insomniac is content with moving into the multiplatform development game. The Resistance franchise will see continuation in the form of a PS Vita release scheduled for this year titled "Resistance: Burning Skies" by Nihilistic.

Revealed at E3 2011, the developer will be pushing out a new title called "Overstrike". The developer has been coy with the details about the scheduled 2012 multiplatform release. Although we do know that the game takes place in the near future, telling the story of a group of special agents with attitude. Featuring four player cooperative play, Insomniac fans have one to lookout for in the forseeable future, but it's not going to be Resistance related.

  Totally, I love Resistance and will be picking up Resistance 3, but I’m sorry..many Sony exclusives are at the top of my list but Resistance was underneath Skyrim and BF3 for me.

  Why I chose Skyrim and BF3 over Uncharted 3 & Resistance 3. It’s not like I’m not getting those games – it’s just going to take time. I usually buy 1-2 new games a year. This year I splurged on 3 and wish I could have bought 5 more brand new.

I called Vita expensive because as much as I want to get it. I just dont have the money right now. Economy’s kind of tough in the wallet. Being middle class and all.

  See now is that so damn hard. I mean if that’s all you got then pack up and go home. None of that is $hit when compared to all the greatness PS3 is.
  
  Also I think some stuff got mixed up in the last couple days, the only thing I meant to throw back at you was the Vita comment. Everything else was more directed to Reality and Paul – low lifes like them.

Resistance 3 wasn’t the best of the trilogy. Resistance 1 was original and after that got stale… I guess it was supposed to be the counterpart for Gears of War but didn’t have near the success. Good games tho but I can understand discontinuing the franchise

there where so many great games this year its sad to see good games like resistance not get and audience they deserve. i loved 1 and 2 they where day one purchases for me (i got resistance 1 with the ps3) but when 3 came out so many games where on my list.

I still have yet to play Arkham City, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 and Rage all of which are on my list of games to play, and to be honest out of those 4 games resistance 3 is 3rd on my priority list.

  Resistance was the vest of the bunch, R2 was the worst and lost most of the audience (incl me), But apparently R3 was a redeemer but I dont really intend to buy it..
