Dead Rising 4 Guide: How To Beat The Obscuris Lieutenant

Dead Rising 4 Obscuris Lieutenant

When you come to the end of chapter 2 in Dead Rising 4 you will be faced with a boss fight with the Obscuris Lieutenant, who is basically a lackey of one of the higher-ups. This guy will be equipped with an Exo Suit and a flamethrower, which can deal some serious damage if you’re not careful. However, if you follow this guide then you shouldn’t have too many problems taking him down.

First of all, when the encounter starts he will send a wave of enemies to come charging at you. Put that minigun to the test and mow them all down before they can get close enough, and once they are all taken care of then the boss will jump down to fight you himself. He typically moves pretty slowly and just shoots out a consistent stream of fire with his flamethrower, though he will charge you occasionally. He’ll also throw explosives at you, so be sure to get out of the way once you see their icons pop up.

While shooting him directly will deal some decent damage, he will eventually catch on and start throwing his guard up. What you want to do is try to get behind him and shoot him in the back, as this is his weak spot. The best time to do this is when he charges you, as if you’re able to jump out of the way you’ll have an easy shot at his back. You’ll also want to stick with the ranged weapons for the entire fight, as getting close will likely just get you burned. If you happen to knock him down with your attacks, going up to him and pressing the correct button prompt in time will deal big damage.

Each time you take away a chunk of the boss’ health bar he will jump out of the fight and send another wave of enemies to come kill you. If you find yourself in a position where your minigun runs out of ammo then don’t worry, as there are plenty of weapons to find throughout the map. While the starting area will have both healing items and weapons to pick up, the two best spots are the alcoves on the left and right side of the map. These have powerful weapons waiting for you to grab, which will be great for both taking out the regular enemies and the boss himself.

It’s also worth mentioning that there is a glitch in the game where the boss stays up on the scaffolding and never initiates the battle. You can shoot him for ages and ages with your minigun, but you’ll never get anywhere and the game will just repeatedly tell you to shoot him from behind (which is impossible in that situation). If you find yourself in that situation then simply restart from the last check point. You’ll know that you’ve gotten past the glitch if the boss jumps down after you’ve taken out the first wave of enemies.

As long as you stick to the tips above then the Obscuris Lieutenant will go down without much of a fuss.
