NieR: Automata Guide: Where To Get The Final Fantasy XV Engine Blade

Recommended Videos

NieR: Automata has plenty of its own unique weapons to pick from, but fans of the Final Fantasy series will be happy to know that they have the option to use a weapon from Final Fantasy XV. The weapon is none other than the Engine Blade, which was used by protagonist Noctis. This guide will show you how to get it and show your love for the Final Fantasy series.

You won’t be able to get this weapon right off the bat, as you need to progress through the game until you reach the story mission where you’re escaping from the Abandoned Factory towards the end of the game. Make your way through that level until you reach a conveyor belt with the crushers, and proceed past them to the next tower. Inside the next tower you’ll find a room with more machines, so then exit through the other door in the room to be outside again. Start going up the nearby stairs until you spot a gap in the stairs railing, which will allow you to jump to the top of the crushers.

You’ll want to hop along the crushers carefully, and eventually you’ll reach a room at the end. After all of that hard work, you will notice a chest that contains the Engine Blade. You probably noticed that there’s another chest in the room, but it needs to be hacked and ultimately isn’t what we’re here for. As soon as you grab the Engine Blade enemies will start poring into the room, so take this opportunity to try out your new toy.

As for when the Engine Blade is accessible, you will be able to get it during your first and third playthroughs in the same location stated above. It’s impossible to get it during your second playthrough, so don’t bother trying.

That should be all you need to know in order to get the almighty Engine Blade in NieR: Automata. It’s a really cool weapon in its own right, but it’s even cooler considering it adds little Final Fantasy XV flourishes to combat when you use it. These include Noctis’ warping animations, as well as Final Fantasy XV’s damage numbers that appear onscreen when attacking enemies. It’s a cool inclusion to the game, and is well worth taking the time to seek out.
