A “Silver” Lining In Destiny’s New Microtransaction System

Recommended Videos

Bungie is rolling out the Eververse Trading Company system in Destiny Year Two, where players can purchase items for real world cash.  Limited to Emotes right now in two types:  Rare Emotes (200 Silver each) and Legendary Emotes (500 Silver each).  Silver, the currency needed to purchase these cosmetic items went on sale earlier today in a number of different denominations.

Bungie also rolled out a gift to all Destiny players of 400 silver that can be used to purchase any of rare Emotes right away.  If you want one of Legendary Emotes you’ll need to purchase some Silver from the online store OR play Destiny between now and December as Bungie plans to give away more of the currency.  There are eighteen total Emotes that launched today:

Destiny Rare Emotes (200 Silver)

  • Pumped Up
  • Swing
  • Safe
  • Blowing a Kiss
  • Booyah
  • Formal Bow
  • Bring it On
  • Victory Cheer
  • Come at Me
  • Congrats
  • Cower
  • Evil Scheme
  • Oh, Please
  • Sorrow
  • Tantrum
  • Watch Your Back

Destiny Legendary Emotes (500 Silver)

  • Enthusiastic Dance (The Carlton)
  • Slow Clap

The “Silver” Lining in this new Microtransaction scheme is that The Eververse Trading Company gives you the option to return items for a full refund.  So long as you return an item within fifteen minutes of purchase, you don’t have to be stuck with something that you didn’t want.

However, it appears that Bungie plans on allowing players to buy consumable items in the future.  Tucked away in the item returns menu is the caveat that consumable items are not returnable.  While they’re not available for purchase just yet, it appears that consumables will be in the near future.
