Pre-ordering Battlefield 3 definitely has its perks, but depending on what platform and where you purchase they can vary. Â Luckily, EA has revealed some of the finer details to help you along in getting your copy secured before the October 25th launch.
If you’re heading down the boxed route, in North America, if you pre-order the game from either Gamestop, Best Buy, or Amazon, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition of the shooter.  This entitles you to all of the Back to Karkand expansion content.  This four map DLC pack features classic Battlefield maps from the franchise’s past: Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula, and Wake Island.
Now if you’re planning on getting the downloadable version of the game, its  been made pretty obvious that you won’t be able to pick up the game via Steam, at least not on day one.  However, EA’s download service, Origin, will host the content and reward you for plunking down your cash early.  If you do pre-order on Origin, you’ll get access to the Battlefield 3 beta set to start in September, as well as the Physical Warfare pack which contains a unique group of weapons.
Note: All pre-orders include the free upgrade to the limited edition. Â For clarification, each retailer also has seperate pre-order incentives for their customers along with the limited edition upgrade.
