We haven’t seen much of SOMA since its its last trailer in 2014. The game comes from Frictional Games, the makers of the Amnesia and Penumbra series. It looks to bring that same horror feel that players loved in Amnesia, but this time in a claustrophobic underwater environment.
SOMA is set deep underwater in a remote research facility. “The radio has gone silent on PATHOS-2. As isolation bears down on the staff of the remote research facility, strange things are happening. Machines are taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine. The world around them is turning into a nightmare. The only way out is to do something unimaginable.”
Today, Frictional Games has released the SOMA E3 trailer, which takes you deeper into the mystery surrounding the facility and the events that take place there. It definitely has the feel of Amnesia, in the horror sense, but there seems to be something more to this game than Frictional’s previous efforts.
The underwater environment should give the player a great feeling of dread and isolation, something that truly permeated the Amnesia games.
SOMA will launch for PC and PS4 on September 22nd, 2015.
