Microtransactions were not a popular feature in Assassin’s Creed Unity. However, they are returning for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
Ubisoft Quebec development director Francois Pelland was recently interviewed by IGN. The unpopular topic of microtransactions was brought up, but Pelland mentions it won’t be intrusive.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will have “paid options to save time and accelerate progress“. This means if you cannot be bothered levelling up the normal way, you can speed up the process by simply paying money.
However, Pelland says the game’s paid options do not impact on how others experience the game. All of the game’s content can be unlocked simply by playing the game normally. You can unlock everything if you are good enough.
He concluded the statement that microstransactions are 100% optional. You don’t have to pay if you don’t want to. This is good news as locking content behind a paywall is never a good thing.
No prices were revealed for the microtransactions. However, the price ranges for Assassin’s Creed Unity were very low to very high. You can choose to spend a lot of money if you want to complete the game at a quicker and easier rate. Other players can just sit back and pay nothing.
