Telltale has announced that the release date for Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 5 will be December 13th across its many platforms. This episode brings to an end the story that began months ago. Titled “City of Light” Episode 5 promises to wrap up a lot of the running narrative, though don’t be too surprised if some things linger for a possible Season 2.

“In Episode 5, the leader of the Children of Arkham prepares to execute the final act of a plan to destroy the Wayne family name, and the people closest to you are in their path of vengeance,” reads Telltale’s description. “Can Batman’s ultimate secret be kept – his very identity – when it is causing chaos and death in Gotham? The fate of the Wayne family and of the city itself rests on your choices. What will you do? How far will you go? Which mask will you wear?”

Telltale notes that this episode will begin in some very different ways, with Episode 4 allowing players to choose different ways to tackle the ending. How they will differ should be interesting, and might even be worth replaying Episode 4 to see.

Batman: The Telltale Series has been praised for its portrayal of Batman, but mostly for how it treats Bruce Wayne. Playing as Wayne is actually some of the better moments of the game, allowing for the dialogue nuance that the developer is known for. Of course, there have also been some troublesome technical problems that take away from the experience. Check out our reviews for more on that.

Those problems might be gone though, with Telltale announcing a new update. “Telltale has also released a performance patch for BATMAN – The Telltale Series on Steam, updating the game to support a wider range of PC configurations and address some of the concerns we heard when the game launched earlier this year. This patch contains significant performance improvements as well as adding numerous performance settings to allow users to customize the game for their systems.”

If you haven’t jumped into Batman: The Telltale Series just yet, you can do so now without spending any money. Episode 1 is currently free on Steam for anyone who might want to check it out. This episode was a great introduction to this take on the Batman mythos.
