Battlefield 4 will ship between April 2013 and March 2014, that is according to Electronic Arts most recent projections made during their quarterly conference call. EA’s Frank Gibeau made the projections during the call, where the publisher expressed excitement about the future plans for the Battlefield and Medal of Honor franchises.
EA didn’t have much to say about Battlefield 4 in general, other than the release date projection. With the release of Medal of Honor: Warfighter looming, the publisher seemed much more focused on their next shooter in the pipeline.
“Our goal with Medal of Honor was to change things up a bit. We changed the tech-base from the Unreal Engine to the Frostbite engine. We added some resources from our DICE studio in Stockholm, and we’ve tried some very innovative things this time around with multiplayer.”
For many, the game’s most important feature is the possibility of getting early access to the Battlefield 4 beta when it arrives in 2013. Recently, analysts lowered forecasts for sales of Medal of Honor: Warfighter due to quality concerns that plagued the 2010 reboot for the franchise.
The statements made in the conference call could point to a release date for Battlefield 4 that is in-line with what has been the historically established trend for the franchise. With EA looking to offer a one-two punch of Medal of Honor and Battlefield on a year after year basis, it looks like Battlefield 4 will arrive in October of 2013.
