The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is currently available on PC, bringing hundreds of hours of new content to the much beloved roguelike game. However, what about the many other systems that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth was available on? PS4 and Xbox One are definitely still possibilities, but an update from the developer puts a few systems into doubt.
New Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and PS Vita versions are apparently giving the developer trouble, with the tweet reading “in other news, evaluating Afterbirth for Wii U, new 3DS and PS Vita. Not running at a performance level I’m happy with. Outlook NOT good.” Of course, these could be early troubles that can get worked out with enough time, but they could be insurmountable or just not worth the effort.
Fans who want the game to hit these systems have expressed their feelings about this reveal. Some angrily, but most accepting that if the developer can’t get the game up to their standard that they should avoid releasing it. The Binding of Isaac is a complex game full of systems that require fine tuning on whatever platform it is released, and there have been problems in the past. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is even a New Nintendo 3DS exclusive title, as the regular 3DS struggled to perform.
Hopefully the developer can work past the current issues and get a functional version out for all of the The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth fans on 3DS, Wii U, and PS Vita.
