Will Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Arrive on the Nintendo Wii U?

by Bill Hess on April 24, 2012

The next Call of Duty title has yet to be revealed.  But there’s plenty of evidence that suggests that Treyarch’s new title will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.  What’s also unconfirmed, is where the franchise will land come November.

With Nintendo’s next console on the horizon, the Official Nintendo Magazine prompted Activision with the question of whether or not the next Call of Duty game would arrive on the Nintendo Wii U, and the company declined to comment.

You would think that if history tells us anything, that the game should be arriving for the Wii U.  The Call of Duty franchise has a long history of arriving on Nintendo’s Wii, albeit a bit dumbed down from its PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts.  The next one however, should be closer to the versions on those consoles, considering the Wii U’s HD capabilities and higher specs.

If it does on arrive on Nintendo’s next console, it’ll be interesting to see if Treyarch utilizes the Wii U tablet interface to bring a new gameplay revelations to the console.  The next Call of Duty title will be officially announced during the NBA playoffs, next month.

If Activision thought it was worth putting these games on Wii (an extremely difficult and relatively expensive port), then I don’t see them choosing to pass over Wii U, which, according to devs, is a cinch to port games to.

The Wii U is also more powerful than both of those consoles. So… yeah, I don’t know why they wouldn’t.

Oh yes, finaly at least one cool game for wii u! I hope its true. Im buying a wii u now.

This isn’t a “cool” game. It’s CoD 4, WaW, MW2, Black Ops and MW3 all over again. Get a brain and play some proper games. There are plenty of other FPS to keep your simple mind at bay such as the new Alien game and Killer Freaks From Outer Space.

i agree there will just be as many hackers on this game as there are on MW3 and Black ops

Works both ways really. But theres one thing that bothers Activision. The WiiU fanbase is very small as compared to the Xbox and PS. This is because WiiU will just release prior/after to Black ops 2. Month +1/-1.

But then again, if BO2 becomes a “launch” game for the WiiU. This would attract people from the Xbox/PS fanbase to flock to WiiU’s enhanced graphics and specs, therefore enlarging the WiiU fanbase. Whilst more “potential” sales for BO2.

    I don’t see why they wouldn’t
