In a Twitter Q&A session between fans and Treyarch’s Design Director on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 David Vonderhaar, the question came up of how Prestige will work in the upcoming game. As has been the norm for questions that dive this deep into the game, the answer mostly consisted of deflecting to a later date, but they did make one promise that should interest longtime fans.
“Full details on Prestige have not been announced,” said the reply from Vonderhaar. “But we have something totally new and different planned.” What this “new and different” Prestige system could be is really anyone’s guess at the moment, but fans definitely have something to look forward to thanks to this announcement.
In other areas of the Q&A we got some more info about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, though most answers didn’t go too deep into the core mechanics. For example, we learned that as far as control schemes are concerned, “Yes. All the ones you would expect [are included], and some new ones like Bumper Jumper.”
We also were told that “most weapons” will be available in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta, which will begin on August 19th for PS4 owners. We also learned that the “time to kill” rate is “fast” according to Vonderhaar, that the e-sports arena mode will have every piece of game content unlocked, and that “accessibility is very important” to Treyarch, indicating that a color blind mode might be in the game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
