Crysis 3 is looking to return to franchise form with some increased graphical horsepower in the sequel. According to Crytek, fan expectations have prompted the developer to once again push the limits with Crysis 3. As a result, the developer vows to melt down PCs in the process.
“There are brutal expectations around the PC version of Crysis 3,” said Cevat Yerli during Crytek’s Crysis 3 Gamescom livestream. “So this time we promise to melt down PCs. There is unfortunately always in a multi-platform development that kind of compromise that we have to take, but at the same time we are trying not to take it, so we can make sure that the PC version looks and plays fantastic.”
Yerli explained that they will once again try to push consoles to a higher bar, so the differences aren’t as substantial between the two versions. Over the last year since Crysis 2 was released, that gap has only gotten wider from PC to console, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of magic Crytek is preparing for the console versions of Crysis 3. Crysis 2 was one of the best looking multiplatform console games of 2011.
