Sony Online Entertainment’s DC Universe Online will go free to play on November 1st. Back in September, Sony announced that the business model for the superhero MMO would be shifting to a free model, but never announced when that might be.
The free to play model will allow players to get into the game on the free, but those players will need to pony up extra cash for in-game items, and access to the complete DCUO experience. The tiered service will still offer players the opportunity to become “premium members”, which will entitle them to better in-game features than free players, as well as access to more content. Furthermore, if you subscribe as a “Legendary member” you get access to the complete DCUO experience, which maxes out all the content included in the $15 subscription, and extra character and inventory slots.
Look for it possibly in the next PS Store Update, early next week.
