There have been rumors swirling around for a while regarding a potential return of the Devil May Cry series, and now this latest bit of info seems to add more fuel to the fire. Devil May Cry 5 briefly appeared on a Norwegian voice actor’s resume before being removed, but not before several websites were able to get a screen capture of it.
Seeing as we are in the midst of the many leaks that always happen just before E3, it remains to be seen whether or not this one pans out. Voice actor Nils Hognestad listed himself as the lead in the game, which would mean that either they have gotten a new Dante voice actor or we’re talking a new character entirely. Seeing as the game bears the Devil May Cry 5 name would seem to insinuate that it would be a return of the old Dante series, rather than the most recent DmC: Devil May Cry series.
It has been a while since we’ve gotten a new adventure from the original Dante, as Devil May Cry 4 launched in 2008. That game also starred a brand new character named Nero, which introduced new styles of gameplay to the mix. That game and DmC: Devil May Cry were both re-released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last year.
E3 will show whether or not this ends up holding any water, but a new Devil May Cry game is definitely something that is long overdue. Capcom will be making an appearance at E3 where they are expected to share details on a variety of games, so we’ll see if this one pops up next week.
