Digital Games on PS Vita will be cheaper

One of the great things about the PS Vita is its ability to deliver high quality gaming experiences to fans on the go. That being said, an integral piece of the puzzle for Sony with the PS Vita is the delivery of digital titles to players on the go. With less costs associated with digital distribution, many assumed that PS Vita games delivered digitally would cost less, and those assumptions are right.

Sony confirmed that PS Vita games that are delivered via the mobile PlayStation Network will cost less than those that are bought at retailers. The company hasn't revealed any concrete pricing information, but according to a recent spotting by NeoGAF members, digital versions of PS Vita games could cost as much as 10% less than their physical counterparts.

Offering consumers a nice discount, plus the added convenience of digital downloads will be a nice nudge by Sony to get PS Vita consumers to stray from their favorite retailers into the waiting arms of the PlayStation Store.

Meh, I’ll still buy physical. Nothing beats going to the game store to pick up some deals, IMO. That discount isn’t much either.

$4 is a pretty good deal, especially if you’re buying a new game every month

10% off doesn’t seem like much to me. Not for all the rights you give up as a physical media holder. I’d like to see 25-30% off digital games.

Wow, I thought Sony fans would love the chance to save $4, that’s a lot of money right? I Kidd, it needs to be at least 25% off to make it somewhat worthwhile on any download.

Well odds are you’ll get about $20 for $40 game down the road, so at around 25% off gets it close to the used price and more worthwhile.

if u split the cost between 2 ppl its cheap. plus u can always download it again if u lose or delete it.

we stil can dish out content to 2 ppl on psn. makes dlc cheap.

used to be 5 but 2 is better than 1

Agree njb, only a few games hold their value, I’m not all for download but I can see some value if you save $10 on digital when odds are you’d be lucky to get $10 selling a used disk.

    Freakin’ Expensive Memory
    REPLY

Let’s do the math. You would need to get a fairly large memory card to go all digital…so you would need to blow $100 on the 32gig card to really get started. Since 32 gig storage should only cost about $40 or less by today’s standards you would need to by enough games to equal out the $60 extra you pay for the card. So you would need to download 15 (saving $4 each) games to break even to the standard cost of 32 gigs of storage. If you don’t buy games very often and don’t use the device for music and movies then it would be more economical to get the 4 gig card and just buy the games at the store.

And THIS is why gaming is dying! Look at how Steam is run. You can get amazing games for dirt cheap. Sony, you’re going to have to cut more than 4% for anyone to become interested.
