Dragon Age: Inquisition will encourage exploration

Bioware has begun to spill the details about Dragon Age: Inquisition. In the latest issue of Game Informer, Bioware reveals that they will be pushing players for more exploration in the RPG. Bioware hasn’t been known for encouraging players to explore their game worlds. Neither the Mass Effect or Dragon Age games have ever really allowed for much exploring, but from the sounds of it, Bioware is really dialed in on letting players customize and explore the world of DA: Inquisition.

I’ve been trying to drive exploration, something that BioWare hasn’t done in a while

Executive Producer on Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mark Darrah, explains that the game will introduce mounts to players to help lessen the time it takes to travel across larger areas. Darrah says: “I’ve been trying to drive exploration, something we used to have more of in our games… It’s something that, frankly, BioWare hasn’t done in a while… In a lot of ways, I’d say we’re a lot like what you saw in the Baldur’s Gate series, with areas that existed in part just to be spaces that you went to, but they had a story of their own.”

Inquisition will also feature the ability to play as multiple races. This feature was scrapped from Dragon Age 2, but was a feature in Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age: Inquisition looks like its really trying to pick up the slack from the controversial release of the second game. A lot of people who enjoyed the first game didn’t like the second one too much. We’ll be finding out more about Dragon Age: Inquisition in the weeks ahead.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is slated for a fall 2014 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
