The Dragon Quest series has always been a huge hit in Japan, but the US and other western countries have sometimes not even received the latest titles in the franchise. This won’t be true for the newest game, Dragon Quest Heroes, as Sony has just announced that it will be coming to North America and Europe exclusively on PS4. The game is developed by Omega Force and marks a departure for the series, which has traditionally offered turn-based RPG gameplay. Dragon Quest Heroes will feature much more of an action style, taking on elements of the developer’s popular Dynasty Warriors series.

Dragon Quest Heroes will be released tomorrow in many Asian territories, such as Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. No official release date was given for the North American and European release, other than the assurance that it would be available some time this year. The Asian release will be for PS3 and PS4, but the Western one will be exclusive to PS4.
Dan Seto, Square Enix’s West Community Manager, described the game by saying “in Dragon Quest Heroes, the protagonists must rise up against insurmountable odds, challenging swarms of enemies and conquering gigantic monsters in an exhilarating action game. Filled with characters and monsters designed by world-renowned artist Akira Toriyama, Dragon Quest Heroes is brought to PS4 in beautiful HD.”
