The ‘GayStation’ sold for over $4000

Remember the ‘GayStation’ that was up for auction? The console sold for 28,300 Swedish Krona, which equates to over $4000 in U.S. Dollars. All proceeds from the auction head to LBTG organization in Sweden, a federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rights group.

Swedish retailer Webhallen started the auction last week ahead of the Stockholm Pride Festival, and for good cause.

Though not everybody agrees with this sort of auction. While Webhallen’s heart was in the right place, there were certainly a vocal group that thought console was an extremely stereotypical.

Regardless, stereotypical or not, someone felt that the cause was good enough to pony up over $4000 for the custom PlayStation 4.
