If you are getting Mortal Kombat for the PlayStation 3 when it launches later next month, you get pretty cool bonus with the game.  The God of War, Kratos, will be a playable character in the game.  The seemingly match made in video game heaven, has PS3 fans of both games excited to see what Kratos has to offer in the next installment of Mortal Kombat.  Stig Asmussen the director of God of War III reflected on Kratos’s inclusion in the game in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog.

The developer was influenced heavily by the game growing up.  He even claims that

“I remember interviewing at PlayStation eight years ago and seeing Kratos in the very early stages of God of War 1 and thinking, “This guy looks like he was pulled straight from MK!” Which to me, was a good thing.”

The developer thinks that because of the synergy between NetherRealm and Sony Santa Monica they will deliver on the promise of making the best Mortal Kombat game yet.  With several of the developers at SSM having worked at Midway, they know that even though they aren’t working on the game directly, the inclusion of their most valuable property will be put to good use.  And that use is making a bloody mess of anything that comes in his way, just like every other character in Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat launches on April 19th for PS3 and Xbox 360.  Kratos will be playable on the PlayStation 3 version of the game only.
