343 Industries will be doing things a bit different when they release the highly anticipated Halo 4 this fall. According to Game Informer Magazine, the company has big plans for episodic content following the launch of the game. While Firefight is getting the boot, “Spartan Ops” will go hand-in-hand with the legendary Halo multiplayer suite.
“The Spartan Ops season is part of what you get with the package when buy Halo 4. We want to keep players engaged and coming back week to week,” 343i’s Josh Holmes to Game Informer. “We want to bridge that gap between players who really care primarily about storytelling and give them an opportunity to get their feet wet and experience multiplayer.”
“By providing players the opportunity to constantly engage with new content that they can come back to, we ultimately have them moving between campaign, co-op and competitive, while weaving this high level story across it all.”
These cinematic chapters are said to release via Xbox Live on a weekly basis, telling the story of the Spartans of the UNSC Infinity, and will move parallel to the main story-line involving Master Chief.
