Horizon Zero Dawn Delay

Horizon: Zero Dawn’s Day One Patch Is Just 250MB

Day one patches for video games these days are a very common thing, as devs use the last possible moments of development time before launch to iron out issues or even add in certain features. While some of these day one patches can be multiple gigabytes, that won’t be the case when it comes to the PlayStation 4-exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Developer Guerilla Games recently posted on Twitter to inform everyone about the game’s day one patch, saying “For those interested, #HorizonZeroDawn will receive a day one patch of around 250MB.” While they didn’t specify what would be included in this day one patch, they did say that information would be revealed around launch. Considering the small size of the patch, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be anything too crucial.

The announcement of the game going gold was made at the end of last month, which means that development on the game was complete and the game was ready to be printed onto discs. Despite that, development always continues after a game goes gold in order to address any bugs or to add in new content down the line. There’s currently been no announcements made on the game getting a season pass filled with DLC, though there has been talk of a new mode coming to the game later in the year that was the result of leaks. These remain unconfirmed, however.

In related news, the developer recently discussed the origin of the game’s already-popular heroine Aloy, saying her “rise has been incredible to observe, given that for most of the world she didn’t even exist until June 2015. It’s a testament to her excellent design (something Horizon Zero Dawn is lavished with on a whole) — but like many iconic characters, there’s a distinct feeling that Aloy wasn’t so much created as she was discovered.”

Horizon: Zero Dawn will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 on February 28th.
