Metal Gear Solid 5 confirmed once again by Hideo Kojima

by Bill Hess on June 20, 2012

Hideo Kojima has once again confirmed Metal Gear Solid 5 in a recent interview.  The new Fox Engine will be the power behind the the upcoming game, but Kojima did give a couple of hints about MGS5 in the interview with French publication IG Magazine.

“About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things,” said Kojima.  “There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you a favor like in the last Metal Gear Solid.  I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see.  And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into peices. So it’s better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.”

Furthermore, despite Kojima wanting to kill off Solid Snake in Guns of the Patriots, it looks like the iconic character will be making a return in the next game.

“Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid.  This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake.  It is a spinoff that tries something different.  We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”

Could Kojima Productions possibly be readying a next-gen Metal Gear Solid title for the PlayStation 4?  Let us know what you think in the comments section below!

I can’t wait personaly its going to be amazing i knew he didn’t
have no intentions of letting snake die in MGS4 because he said
he had 3 months left to live in the end credits.

and i bet kojima will go with a story about how otacon and sunny made nanomachines
that can reverse snakes premature ageing

you heard it hear first folks!!!

Oh and didn’t you find it disturbing in MGS4 when snake didn’t even shed a tear when his mum died ??

    its strange lol

Solid is used to it. thats why i thought its harsh when it turns out that snake becomes a WMD but the new foxdie suppresses the old one, lucky.

MGS5 wont be a sequel, he has 3 months to live, plus the ageing is DNA based so they cant reverse it. Unless Kojima and the talented writers somehow keep snake alive then its possible but i think mgs5 will be more focused around The Boss and when Naked Snake and her met or it will be just after PeaceWalker but then thats not solid snake. Unless kojima takes us back to the Metal Gear games on the MSX but then y would he do that.

wow, its confusin tryin to guess, lol

Well I suppose nearly anythings possible with Japanese story writing lol… They need to cut solid snake a break somewhere with the whole 3 months to live carry on and develope a progressive redemption story of reversing the advanced aging; the whole tragic Oedipus character design is so depressing…
