Microsoft leads console sales for 14th consecutive month

by | @AttackFanboy | on March 8, 2012

According to NPD Data, Microsoft has once again outsold its competitors for the month of February.  The console maker said that they sold 426,000 Xbox 360’s in a month where hardware was the only bright spot for the industry.  Commenting on the sales figures, Microsoft mentions that they control and maintain 40% of the market share of the current generation, and has so now for 12 consecutive months.

Also during February, Microsoft managed to hold five of the top ten U.S. console game titles which included: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, UFC Undisputed, NBA 2K12, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Microsoft is also extremely confident with the console going forward.  According to them, the company is positioned well for the remainder of 2012.  “Xbox 360 will again deliver an interactive entertainment portfolio of blockbuster titles, experiences and add-on content, including additions to the famed “Halo” and “Fable” franchises.  The more than 50 Xbox Live Entertainment partners will continue to expand with many more launching throughout the year.  Later this year, Xbox 360 will deliver entirely new groundbreaking experiences like “Kinect Sesame Street TV”.
