Modern Warfare 3 Outpacing Black Ops in pre-orders

by | @AttackFanboy | on July 22, 2011

The Call of Duty franchise is losing no steam according to recent comments made by both retailers in the UK and United States regarding pre-order numbers for Modern Warfare 3.  Two of the biggest video games retailers in the world have confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is outpacing Black Ops by a significant margin when it comes to pre-orders.  UK games retailer, GAME, claims that Modern Warfare 3 has seen a  “significant” increase from the numbers that Call of Duty: Black Ops had achieved about a year ago.

Furthermore, here in the United States, Gamestop is also seeing the same trend developing for the game.  Bob McKenzie of the company recently confirmed this data.

“Last year, Call of Duty: Black Ops became the most pre-ordered title in our history,” Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop told Gamepro. “Already, this year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is significantly ahead of that pace. Our customers’ response to the reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been amazing.”

It appears that the franchise is still picking up steam.  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to release this November 8th for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, alongside the new Call of Duty: Elite service.
