When single player franchises add multiplayer mode, they can feel underwhelming at times. However, Naughty Dog is making full efforts to ensure the online multiplayer in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is entertaining.
Gamespot interviewed the game’s Lead Multiplayer Designer Robert Cogburn where he talked more about Naughty Dog’s plans for the online multiplayer mode and more.
Cogburn mentioned that the nultiplayer mode is still a part of the overall integral Uncharted experience. This is because Naughty Dog only creates experience that they want to play as well. The studio has an “internal multiplayer team” so it’s not just the single player devs tacking it on at the last minute during development.
He said the multiplayer modes in Naughty Dog’s previous games have been expanding as the community has grown each time. The number of players are expected to be higher for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End so they want to create an experience that is unique to competitive games.
Cogburn also said that there is a demand for multiplayer in Uncharted games. The recent beta showed that the “engagement rate” was high.
He ended the conversation about multiplayer that they have big plans for the mode in the near future. They have some “really cool plans” and “sick ideas“, although they will also listen to fan feedback too.
