Nintendo Announces Hyrule Warriors

The aptly but not finally named Hyrule Warriors was announced by Nintendo during today’s Nintendo Direct, set to expand the Legend of Zelda franchise to a new, more action-oriented genre. The teaser trailer featured Link expertly mowing down scores of enemies with swordsmanship and magic alike.

It was stressed the game is not a part of the core franchise, presented more as a spin-off and a frankly interesting new direction. Tecmo Koei is behind this new title, and Satoru Iwata hinted at similarities to their Warriors franchise.

Hyrule Warriors will be plowing through enemies on the Wii U in 2014.
