Nintendo are to soon reveal their first mobile game, so say industry analysts. “Some analysts say news on the game—and whether it will feature Mario or other Nintendo characters—could come in the next few days,” says The Wall Street Journal.
Strictly speaking, Nintendo’s first mobile game has already been announced in the form of Pokémon Go, which promises to take Pokémon down a different avenue entirely, relying on social and real-world interaction.
Nintendo announced their intention to develop for mobile platforms earlier this year, partnering with DeNA, one of the biggest providers of mobile games in Japan. Following the announcement, Nintendo claimed that their first mobile game would be available sometime in 2015, so an announcement in the coming days would certainly be timely.
Of course, the question mark remains over what Nintendo IP will be the first to make the transition to mobile. With games like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country Returns and 3D and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Nintendo already has a myriad of titles that have proved that they can work in a smaller, handheld form in one way or another.
Personally, I’m hoping for another Advance Wars.
