Payday: The Heist is getting a sequel, and it’s likely to arrive in the summer of 2013. Â Overkill Entertainment says that the sequel will once again follow suit with the cooperative experience of the original game, but does now plan to have persistent characters that can be leveled up, and be outfitted with numerous upgrades.
A new progression system for the game has also been revealed in the announcement. Players will take on contracts as missions, and as the game progresses, players will be rewarded with the ability to take on bigger jobs with higher compensation.
Payday 2 is currently in development by Overkill, who is now a Starbreeze Studio at 505 Games. Â You can find the first video of Payday 2, below.
