Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim No DLC Planned

by William Schwartz on June 22, 2011

Some of the best examples of worthwhile DLC has come from Bethesda-made RPGs this generation.  Both Fallout 3 & Oblivion featured some really well made content that let you play on long after you finished the main quest lines of the games.  In Elder Scrolls V: Skryim Bethesda’s Todd Howard, told AusGamers that there isn’t any DLC officially planned for the game at this point, but the developer has big ideas of possible inclusions for the future.

Since Skyrim will allow you to continue playing the game after you finish the main quest, there should be some really interesting opportunities for future content.  Though Howard said ” We’d like to do DLC, we don’t have any specific plans yet, but they’ve been really successful and we like making them.  So right now, I can say that we’d like to do less DLC but bigger ones – you know, more substantial.  The Fallout 3 pace that we did was very chaotic.  We did alot of them – we had two overlapping groups – and we don’t know what we’re going to make yet, but we’d like them to be closer to an expansion pack feel.”

Sounds good. I’m all for one or two HUGE expansions packs over lots of tiny little ones. Great news! :D

So basically more Shivering Isles and less Knights of the Nine. All for it.

Knights of the Nine was an AMAZING part of Oblivion; probably my favorite quest.

    Good thinking, Howard.

Sooo Tribunal and Bloodmoon esque expansions. Sounds good :)

No more DLC!! I’m sick of incomplete games!! Buy this, buy that!! For god’s sake the games are $60 already!!! Add the dlc n u spend about $100 on one game!!!

I totally agree, all the DLC is pissing me off.

I love Red Dead Redemption but I paid $60 for it brand new. Now when I go online there are area’s I can’t access because I have to pay $15 for the DLC.

Plus on my home page it asks if I want to play Red Dead or Undead Nightmare, that’s just annoying. Seeing all this DLC stuff that I have to pay for. If I want it, I’ll buy it. Stop shoving it down my thoat.

@Chuy Bethesda are not following in the footsteps of Bioware, by releasing day 1 DLC and stuff. The reason Bethesda has no plans right now is that they are actually putting as much stuff in the game as possible, and when they’re finished, then they start thinking about DLC, and by the sounds of it massive expansion packs!
    ….Stupid Bioware.

DLC is shitty. Bethesda is probably not going to do little DLC that is available on day one. They did not do that before. No what they did was release very high quality DLC and EXPANSIONS! The best money i have ever spent on DLC was for Bethesda. The only thing that comes close was Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. But that pales when compared to Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Broken Steel, and especially the Shivering Isles.

  • I will plough your mother.

I would much rather they put all their efforts in to Fallout 4 once Skyrim is finished, 300+ hours gameplay will be enough I think. That is unless they can come up with something as brilliant as Shivering Isles or Bloodmoon.
