Pokemon Go Update 1.27.3 and 0.57.3 Rolling Out Now for iPhone and Android

A brand new Pokemon Go update is heading out now on iPhone and Android. Unlike updates of the past, this one is arriving without patch notes, which will theoretically come later. According to Niantic Pokemon Go update 1.27.3 and 0.57.3 are intended to implement various performance enhancements for the hugely popular mobile game.

The last few Pokemon Go updates have been pretty big, adding in brand new mechanics, as well as new Gen 2 Pokemon for trainers to catch in the wild. It makes sense that all of those changes would cause some performance troubles for the game, especially if people are playing on older hardware. Getting a performance focused update out is a great idea for Niantic, with some players reporting framerate trouble and slowdown while playing the game.

I’m on a fairly new device and I still get some big problems when playing Pokemon Go. It varies depending on the situation, but the game will run slow, taps won’t register correctly, and sometimes everything will simply freeze. This is thankfully the exception and not the norm, but if Niantic can eliminate any of these issues it will be much appreciated.

Pokemon Go has been pulling in lots of previously lapsed players, many who left because the game offered little endgame content. With new Gen 2 Pokemon to catch, there’s now tons of stuff to do in the game that wasn’t available before. The addition of new gameplay mechanics was also good, adding in new berries and Pokemon behaviors.

Pokemon Go hit the world like a storm, becoming the most popular mobile game of all time within just a few months. It’s since lost a lot of this popularity, but hopefully with consistent changes and updates Niantic can bring even more people back.

Also be ready for the party hat Pikachu to show up starting on Sunday, February 26th.
