In honor of the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers last year, we saw a somewhat uninspired season of callbacks to the past known as Megaforce, with very little substance. However, the continuation season Super Megaforce has been a marked improvement thus far, being based on the anniversary Sentai series Gokaiger that brought back past suits and teams from over the years. As with most years, we are getting a brand new game based on this current season, known as Power Rangers Super Megaforce. After being shown off at San Diego Comic-Con, Bandai Namco has officially released the latest trailer for the game through their YouTube page.
Following last year’s absolutely abysmal Power Rangers Megaforce game, there is nowhere to go but up with this year’s iteration. The game features the six Super Megaforce ranger costumes to use in battle, but also provides over 30 total ranger suits from over the years to use. In the show, the rangers morph into these past suits through the use of Ranger Keys and just like how we could scan the trading card game cards into the game last year, this year we can scan the Ranger Keys that are sold in stores for extra power ups and unlockables.
At least from what we’ve seen so far, this game appears to be a drastic improvement on last year’s edition. You can check out the new trailer for Power Rangers Super Megaforce below, which features footage of both the show and game, and look out for the game to be released exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS on October 28.
