Project Rap Rabbit, the collaborative effort from the creators of PaRappa the Rapper and Gitaroo Man, has launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to gain funds for its development. While the game is primarly targeting to release on PlayStation 4 and PC, the overwhelming fan response has moved the developers to lower the stretch goal to release a Nintendo Switch version, and erasing the option of an Xbox One release for the moment. The campaign has 31 days left to reach its main goals.

Coming from the minds responsible of two of the greatest music games ever created, Project Rap Rabbit could only be a rhythmic game with a stunning art design and promising gameplay. The game portrays the world of Feudal Japan through gorgeous hand drawn designs, populated by a group of charismatic animals.

The gameplay is based on the creation of our own rap lyrics through the choice of words according to the rhythm of th beat, as a way to reward the creativity self-express of the players.

From the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, the developers have kept PlayStation 4 and Steam as their primary platforms of choice to release the game. This first stretch goal has been kept at all times at $1.1 million. However, the campaign was originally launched with additional goals of $3.1 million for an Xbox One release and $4.95 million for a Nintendo Switch port.

In the long update note, the managers try to explain that the goals seem high because they don’t want to sugar coat the numbers by presenting some low estimations that would not cover all the necessary costs. Programming for additional platforms requires retooling all the features in the games, especially the multiplayer functions, which is why the stretch goals showed the cumulative total. After

However, after paying attention to the fan feedback, the developers have reordered their priorities and resources, resulting in lowering the stretch goal for Nintendo Switch to $1.5 million, and postponing the Xbox One release indefinitely. Additionally, they have also added a free digital soundtrack for all White-Label Edition tiers and higher, and a new option to contribute $25.

Depending on the course of the campaign, other new goals like an Xbox One release, new difficulty modes or additional content could be considered.
