The PS Vita might become the ultimate companion device for the PS4. Back in February when Sony revealed their new hardware, the PS4 coupled with Gaikai technology was shown to be streaming next-gen games on the Vita. Yeah right, many thought. Sure it’s possible, but probable that this would be a feature of the PS4? We’ve heard plenty of unfulfilled promises that seem too good to be true.
However, it was recently spotted that the official PlayStation 4 website is now advertising remote-play as one of the major features of the new console. “Play your favorite PS4 games on your PlayStation Vita’s beautiful 5-inch display using Remote Play,” says the site.
As VG247 suggests, this could be quite misleading if it doesn’t come to fruition. This comes on the heels of comments made by a Sony representative that suggested the Vita could soon see an unexpected boost in sales.
Will the PS Vita be the “Ace in the hole” for the PS4? Those that already own a Vita are extremely excited about the potential of this remote play functionality. The PS3 and PS Vita share similar functionality, but there are very few, if any, games that utilize it.
