Ever since it was originally announced everyone has been wondering how Quantum Break will actually play. The game features time manipulation mechanics that seem interesting on paper, but without seeing gameplay gamers were left with doubts and questions. Now we have a great eight minute long look at the gameplay of Quantum Break and those doubts have quickly melted away.
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, Quantum Break stars protagonist Jack Joyce. Jack was caught in the wake of a failed time travel experiment, allowing him to stop, start, and slow time at will. Using this ability he can fight enemies, save civilians, and perform impossible feats. But he isn’t the only one with powers over time, and he’ll have to fight those other individuals as well, which can be seen in the trailer above.
The only worry of course is whether the powers are integral to the gameplay or are simply a gimmick much like hacking in Watch Dogs. From the one gameplay video shown I would say that we need not worry, as it seems like the time mechanics are very valuable during combat and can be used often enough that players will always look for ways to manipulate time.
Quantum Break will be released in 2015 exclusively for Xbox One.
