With Rockstar’s lengthy lapse of information on GTA V following its reveal teaser in 2011, many thought that Grand Theft Auto 5 could be headed to next-gen consoles like the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4. Thought to be just around the corner, with their increased capabilitites, the next Grand Theft Auto game seems like it would be a perfect match to kick off a new generation of consoles. Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser explains why this generation is perfect for GTA V in a recent interview with Famitsu.
Houser attributes the lessons learned when making GTA IV as a big reason that this game will arrive on current-gen consoles. With the developer having a “firm grasp” on the hardware of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Grand Theft Auto V is being touted as a game-changer for the franchise. Houser also explained that current-gen consoles still have some “untapped potential”, which we have seen as developers continue to push the platforms further and further with bigger games and better graphics.
Speaking of bigger games, Rockstar claims that GTA V will be the biggest one yet, at least doubling the size of previous efforts.
