Blizzard Starts Teasing New Overwatch Hero – Sombra a Healing Sniper?

The Overwatch community has been wading through a mixture of in-game hints to determine upcoming heroes for Blizzard’s popular shooter, Overwatch. And now, it appears Blizzard is beginning the official teases themselves with a post to Twitter that just revealed a new weapon for what should be a new character in the game.

Many in the Overwatch community are pointing to this reveal being that of Sombra. The image revealed is that of her gun, which references a prototype biotic rifle that can be equipped by medics in the field. A couple of text blocks in the image describe the gun and its abilities.

“Torbjorn: “As discussed, this is the proposed rifle that could be equipped by medics in the field. Despite what my esteemed colleague will surely suggest, the application of her biotic technology is only intended to be used for healing.”

Mercy: “While Torbjorn has, as ever, put forth a very clever design for his latest weapon, I would like to remind everyone that my intention when agreeing to the development of different biotic delivery mechanisms was to save the lives of Overwatch agents and others in need of medical aid. With this latest proposal, it is clear to me that we are on the slippery slope to modifications that will inevitably result in a weaponized version of this technology: something that I have been completely opposed to from the beginning.”

More healing options should certainly be welcomed to the Overwatch roster with open arms. However, Blizzard has yet to officially reveal what this new character’s powers will be, and it could be mixture of things that make her skill set more diverse.

We’ll have to wait and see what Blizzard has in store for the new characters of Overwatch once they stop teasing and officially reveal.
