Sony has gone ahead and confirmed God of War: Ascension after last night’s leak via Amazon.  You can go ahead and file those fears of this being a cruel joke into your unwarranted folder.  Though as it had been rumored, God of War: Ascension will indeed be some form of prequel for the franchise.

Sony hasn’t dished many details about the game, aside from acknowledging its existence.  You aren’t going to have to wait too long for those first details to arrive. Sony has also announced that God of War: Ascension will see new details released on April 30th.

The first trailer for the game surfaced last night, which you can find below.  Sony will be hosting a live-streaming event on Monday April 30th at 8 a.m. Pacific Time to give us a better picture of what to expect from the next chapter in the God of War saga.

God of War: Ascension is due out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in Spring of 2013.
