Activision has confirmed that their upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 game will be delayed on the Xbox One, giving little reason as to why the game won’t be arriving on the console at launch.
Due out on nearly every other modern gaming platform in a few weeks, it’s unclear why the Xbox One version has been delayed, but apparently Activision is working with Microsoft for an eventual release.
“We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on May 2nd, 2014 as previously announced.”
With little explanation from Activision, it’s left the rumor mill to churn about the Amazing Spider-Man’s absence on the Xbox One. Some think that the ties between the game and Sony pictures is so strong that Sony has secured some kind of timed-exclusive for the game. Others have speculated that its an issue related to development on the Xbox One and performance of the console.
