Ever since its surprise announcement at E3 2015 fans have been buzzing about Xbox One Backwards Compatibility. The feature allows you to download, install, and play select Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One, something that was thought impossible for over a year. Now, with more and more games being added to the program, it looks like EA might capitalize, bringing some of those games to their EA Access program.
EA Access is a subscriber service that, among other things, gives players access to The Vault. This Vault is a repository of free games that members can download and play as much as they want, as long as they are a member. EA has been steadily adding to The Vault, bringing in games like Madden NFL, NHL 15, and Need for Speed.
Recently a fan asked if Xbox One Backwards Compatibile 360 games could make their way to the service. EA responded, “We’re investigating adding backwards compatible EA games to EA Access in the future. Stay tuned.”
Already we’ve seen a few potential candidates for the EA Access Vault, with Mass Effect being the first. Hopefully this means we’ll see that game’s excellent sequels soon, along with a few other EA classics.
Xbox One Backwards Compatibility is available now for Xbox Preview members and will launch later this year for everyone else.
