One of the surprise third-party announcements at the PlayStation Experience keynote had to be the announcement of Yakuza 5 finally making its way to western audiences.

PlayStation announced through it’s third-party division that the title will come to PlayStation 3 in the west in 2015. This is a huge announcement as the title was released in Japan on PlayStation 3 in December of 2012. So more than three years later, fans will finally get a chance to play it in the west.

Yakuza 5 tells the story of five protagonists across a series-high five locales from around Japan. Returning characters include Shun Akiyama, Taiga Saejima, and franchise favorite Kazuma Kiryu. It will also feature new protagonists but series regular, Haruka Sawamura and a newcomer, Tatsuo Shinada. All will offer different play styles and unique gameplay. Now, what about Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza Zero?

Yakuza 5 is set to release exclusively on the PlayStation Network Store in 2015 for PlayStation 3.
