There is a Halo game coming to Xbox One this year, and we know it’s not Halo 5. Rumors from earlier this year had suggested a Halo 2 anniversary remake, but a report from Engadget suggests it’s much more than that.
The technology site is reporting that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will arrive on the Xbox One this fall, and will include Halos 1-4 (omitting Halo: Reach & Halo: ODST).
Included in the package, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Details are sparse about the extent to which these games have been remastered, and who knows if the rumor is true or not, as Engadget sites an anonymous source.
Halo fans will be getting a healthy dose of the franchise over the next few weeks, it will obviously be one of the focal points for Microsoft at their E3 Press Conference. While the rumor is unconfirmed at this time, there is precedent. In 2011, 343 Industries and Saber Interactive released an anniversary remake for Halo: Combat Evolved one year ahead of the release of Halo 4.
