Today THQ confirmed that it would making a strategic realignment of its internal studio structure, closing Homefront developer, Kaos Studios. More simply put, it would be cutting costs by shuddering two of its expensive to operate facilities in Kaos Studios (New York) and THQ Digital Warrington (UK).

THQ is sticking by their guns with the Homefront series, says Brian Farrell of the publisher. After selling 2.6 million copies of the future fiction shooter, the publisher believes that the franchise will only continue to flourish, and that this is just the beginning of what could ultimately be a very popular franchise.

Near its launch THQ announced that Homefront would need to surpass 2 million units sold to recoup development and advertising costs. Today, the publisher announced that Homefront has crossed that mark and has shipped 2.6 million copies of the shooter worldwide.

The Xbox 360 Title Update for Kaos Studio’s Homefront went live on Xbox Live this morning. The developer expects for the title update to address profile freezing issues, and now weeks later those that adopted the title early can now play the game…phew.
