Killzone 3 Vs Crysis 2 Video Comparison

Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 are two of the best shooters of 2011 thus far, both offering jaw dropping visuals and plenty of visceral first person action. With two games of this caliber, it’s only fair to put them side by side to see who comes out on top.

Our friends at Lens of Truth have recently updated their YouTube channel with a new video pitting the two shooters side by side, to see who is the best of 2011 so far.

The video shows frame by frame anaylsis for the game, and it looks like Killzone 3 has the steadier frame rate of the two. Which one is better? You be the judge, both look absolutely amazing. Lets us know what you think in the comments section below.

Not even close killzone 3 looks way better, i’d like to see pc version of crysis 2 vs killzone. That might be interesting.

  Amen to that. Crysis 1 was respectable but the console journey did not prove justice for its potential. Good but Not Killzone 3 good.

I’ve been playing Crysis 2 on pc and I got to say I prefer it over killzone on my ps3. But they are very similar in their awesomeness levels. Crysis 2 needs a good pc to be enjoyed to the max.

I think Crysis 2 looks better on PC and Consoles. Killzone 3 had weird graphics glitches in the game, I was very disappointed with Killzone 3. After all they hype of the game I was surprised to see all the really low review scores, when I finally got to play the game I was also surprised that it had so many bugs and glitches that still aren’t fixed.

In terms of Killzone 3 versus Crysis 2 (xbox 360 version) I would say Killzone is the victor. But running Crysis 2 on a high end PC with a modified draw distance there is no comparison, as it should be, as a PC is significantly more money than a PS3 and thus should look better graphically. In terms of lighting and potential resolution on textures Crysis 2 wins all round but it failed in terms of facial animation. Love both games, just not sure which I love more. On a side note I liked Crysis 2′s plot significantly more than Killzone 3.

  Try to ask on some forums like Steam forums.
  In case someone wants to argue,a very good PC can be way more convenient than a console since Steam sells games for $5 while new free to play games pops up like mushrooms. Examples: vindictus, Hounds online, Huxley, Battery Artic Winds,APB:Realoaded,Gunz 2 etcetcetc. And while these games can be considered exlusives themselves, i bring more examples: Red Orchestra 2, The Witcher 2, Torchlight 2, Diablo 3, FireFall, Natural selection 2, MineCraft, GTR Racing 2011, The Sims medieval, Guild Wars 2, FireFall, Star Wars: The old Republic, Battlefield Play4Free, EYE: Divine Cybermancy, Shogun 2 Total War, Dota 2, Core Blaze, End of Nations, Grim Dawn, NeverWinter, Planetside Next, Tribes Universe.
  Not to mention controls are simply better.
  On Topic. You are running games on 5 years old hw. Just go for the visuals you like the most: dark and green filter vs shiny metal

  crysis 2 facial animation was awesome in some parts (like in the sub) and ok like the video showed against killzone here. I only have an xbox so I havent been able to try killzone 3, when I had a pas3 I loved killzone 2. Crysis 2 is a cool game, killzone 3 looks cool to. Have to give it to Killzone 3 based off the video here.

Aside from my earlier comment, both games are AMAZING. Picked up Crysis 2 today…I LOVE IT. The gameplay is just so damn fluid and balanced.

@frankfanboy. Look around all websites and see reviews. Most have average or below on killzone 3. Graphics good but everything else, not. More better reviews on crysis 2 for overall. Its a fact. Look around, not just one website but many.

crysis 2 at any given time has many more details,particle effects, light sourcing, and animations going on at once, while sometimes Killzone 3 looks seems more vibrant with larger characters, but overall is more static. The cut scenes are also a bit better in Killzone. Its a close race and hard to determine but shouldn’t be given the edge in processing power ps3 has over 360.

Both games look amazing, i have crysis 2 but not killzone 3, way i see it is killzone is so visuals stunning because it has exagerated lighting and metalic aspects. Crysis has a much more realistic feel, as with facial animation and skin textures killzone again has exagerated features crysis is more realistic. killzone = sexy,fantasy crysis = impressive real life aspects very prety =]

People saying Killzone 3 is glitchy must have had very rare experiences… its by far the most solid game I’ve played… no slow downs, no screen tears. I mean look at the data in the videos… the only ‘glitch’ as such was when I shot down a APC robot which crashed to earth and took out Rico and knocked him off the edge of this platform… which didnt stop the game or anything but did make me laugh so hard I got shot and died haha

I downloaded the demo of Killzone 3 and I did see a couple of glitches. I think that’s common for demo’s though as they are not nearly as polished as the final product.
Last week I purchased Killzone 3 along with the Move and sharpshooter and have to say, this is the best shooter I’ve played on a console.
I love my PS3 for it’s diverse collection of games. Usually I play FPS on PC only as the Mouse/keyboard is way more accurate than an analog stick. Now I can enjoy FPS on two platforms, PC & PS3.
I heard a rumor that Battlefield 3 is going to be move compatable. If it does then then COD will have to and that would be freaking awesome.

Crysis 2 for me when compared techincally:
1. Overall more stunning, not comparing cut scenes, but the actual gameplay.
2. Lights and water are way beyond Killzone 3.
3. Landscapes are way larger and has a lot of interactive objects, to shoot or to throw around.
3. Explosions are many times more impressive with tons of more particles and sparks filling the air with amazingly detailed fire and smoke effects following, while killzones explosions looked really mediocre at best with minimal particles filling the air as a result of a blast.
4. More destructible objects.
5. Despite the bugs in the AI, the enemies still have the ability to team up and hunt you in the large sandbox arenas while killzones tight corridor style shooting eliminates the enemies from having the need to look for you in a open world.
Conclusion.
Thus when we put all these things together, we see why Crysis and cryengine 3 handles more than Killzone does, all these elements put together makes crysis 2 in my eyes more impressive visually than Killzone. Killzone has some of the main textures more detailed than crysis, but not much more. Crysis has tons more in the environment that makes it more impressive overall. Some bugs and some floating objects don’t mean that the game is somehow less impressive in visuals, pop in is the only real drawback in comparing the visuals of these two, every other element from lights to geometry makes crysis look more impressive than killzone, 100 pixel reduction in the resolution is not big enough difference to complain about the graphics. UIncharted 2 also has the same weakness in graphics, it’s all more confined and doesn’t have the wide open world setting that crysis has.
It seems to me that uncharted and killzone got to look as good as they did by putting the action into scripted scenes with more confined space. Scripted scenes are always easy to optimise, while free game world with the options available to allow many different things to happen will be impossible to optimise as perfectly as scripted scenes. Thus Crysis is the best visual and technical achievement right now, even if it’s not best in every littledetail, it blasts the competition in the overall package.

my english is bad, but if you see the screenshots of CryENGINE 3 in the crytek website differs greatly from crysis 2, that means that the game actually did not use 100% of the graphics engine. This is logical considering that they were “cut” to make it fluid on consoles.

i just cant stand the textures in crysis 2. the left ear on the guy at the start has a crappy texture that looks rough as hell and then the road at about 2mins in just looks smooth and horrible surely a road even if wet should have SOME rough texture to it! as for kill zone looks far more cartoon style but the models look better. also at about 1:28 into the video i think the guy in crysis 2, his ear is half rendered! it like goes inn a sharp angle and looks wrong. (you now realise we have had the same graphics for years now and its only bloom effects and AA making it look slightly better)
