Terminator Genisys has a mid-credits scene for those that missed it. The movie also needs some explanations with its timeline too.

As noted in the title, there will be spoilers revealed here. If you don’t want to be spoiled, move away. If you don’t care or have seen the movie, you can read on.

First off, let’s try and explain what happens in the mid-credits scene in Terminator Genisys. This scene kind of opens up a door to a possible sequel if one gets made.

Near the end of the film, we see Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) and Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) blow up Skynet. It is thought that Skynet has been destroyed and Judgment day has been stopped. That is until the mid-credits scene pops up.

During the mid-credits scene, we see that Skynet managed to survive the blast. The real Skynet survived underneath Cyberdyne’s destruction.

If you missed it, Skynet was represented as a red bulb and the blue projection of the T-5000 (Matt Smith) could be seen again. This opens the door for possible sequels.

Another thing about the ending is that the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has gained abilities for a T-1000 terminator. “Pops” as Sarah Connor calls him in the movie is alive and well and is still hanging out with her and Kyle Reese in 2017.

Paramount has planned for two more sequels, but their future is dependent on how successful Terminator Genisys is at the Box Office. However, the ending and mid-credits scene is evidence that this story is not over.

The mid-credits scene is evidence that Judgment Day never gets prevented. It only gets delayed. Skynet will want revenge for what happened in Genisys.

As for Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor, they pretty much time jumped 32 years of history. They met in 1984 and then traveled in the future to the year 2017.

These versions of the characters only started to fall in love in 2017 and never gave birth to their version of John Connor yet. It’s also worth mentioning Kyle Reese survives. The original timeline makes him die in 1984 protecting Sarah Connor.

It’s also worth mentioning Sarah Connor herself survives in this timeline too. In Terminator 3, it was revealed she was killed by Leukemia. Now, she looks healthy and doesn’t appear like she is going to die anytime soon.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what future movies will do if they ever get made. The Terminator timeline has been changed so much thanks to Genisys.

If sequels do get made, what do you think will happen to the characters and how will the story develop?
