Assassin’s Creed is likley to return again this year, but apparently Ubisoft is prepared to ditch Connor as the main protagonist. In Ubisoft’s most recent financial earnings call, Yves Guillemot explained that new details would be arriving soon about the next game, which is slated to be developed by a completely new team. Will this be Assassin’s Creed 4, or will they go back to the long running tradition of using a subtitle for their next game?
This new team will explore a new time period with a new hero, according to Guillemot. The CEO put a release window on the game of FY 2014, so this means that the next Assassin’s Creed title will arrive prior to April 2014.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the next Assassin’s Creed game will miss its yearly fall release. It’s very likley that Ubisoft will have a new Assassin’s Creed game to fill your needs in October, yet again.
And while it’s not surprising that Ubisoft ventures forth with the franchise, what is suprising is the one and out of Connor. With so much work put into Assassin’s Creed III, it’s difficult to see Ubisoft abandoning all of that Revolutionary Period content, but apparently they are doing just that.
Assassin’s Creed III launched in October of last year to generally positive reviews. The franchise introduced a brand new protagonist, new time period, and new storyline in the long running Assassin’s franchise. Look for more details about what’s next for Assassin’s Creed “Soon”.
