This summer has had a drought of games thus far.  There have been some gems here and there, but the numbers don’t lie, it’s been pretty bad.  We’ve seen how June turned out, and July numbers for game sales are expected to be down again.  Analysts have looked even further down the line and predicted August will also be horrid.  Fear not though, the guys who get paid to analyze the games industry have concluded that September will be the month that we shake off that summer drought, and it all starts with Gears of War 3.

Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee told Industry Gamers that he expects sales to rebound significantly with the release of Microsoft/Epic’s popular exclusive, Gears of War 3.

“We expect September sales to rebound as it benefits from the late August release of Madden and the launch of Microsoft’s Gears of War 3,

Bhatia conclusions align quite well with the fact that Gears of War has seen significant activity on the pre-order front, and is expected to sell as many as 10 million copies.  Although industry analyst Michael Pachter drew the conclusion that pre-order numbers are a joke, earlier in the week.  After September the flood gates will open into an extremely crowded October and November where the biggest releases of the year are likely to occur.

Mark your calendars, Gears of War marks the end of summer and the start of a busy gaming season this September
