When Gears of War 3 finally launches this Fall, it will be after the game has been put through its paces by the Xbox Live community. This decision to include a multiplayer beta probably wasn’t all that difficult considering that Gears of War 2 was plagued by so many problems at its launch. Gears of War design director, Cliff Bleszinski, caught serious negativity for this from die-hard fans of the franchise.
In a recent interview Bleszinski commented on the decision to include a beta this time around.
“Because if we release Gears 3 and it has the same launch as Gears 2 online then the franchise is dead. So you can’t afford to make that mistake twice, right? And to be fair over the course of the six title updates, we got Gears 2 in a very good position. And we need to take it to great. And that’s what this will help do.”
The Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta is slated to begin in mid April for the Xbox 360. Those that bought Bulletstorm Epic Edition, will have first crack at the multiplayer. Shortly followed by a public beta for the remainder of the allotted time.
