GTA fans are patiently awaiting news on their beloved franchise and an announcement of the inevitable GTA V. But if Billy Pidgeon of M2 Research is correct, we might be waiting a little longer than expected. The industry analyst puts a second half of 2012 launch window on GTA V for reasons unexplained in a quote to Now Gamer. The senior analyst believes that Rockstar will show something at E3 in the summer and then release the game sometime next year.
“GTA 5 will get a Q3 or Q4 2012 release at the earliest,” “We could see a teaser for the game at E3 this year,” claimed the analyst.
It was not clarified whether he was talking about calendar year or fiscal year but there’s a significant difference in the wait if he means calendar year. This analyst is at odds at what other industry types like Michael Pachter believe. The Wedbush Morgan analyst has gone on record on multiple occassions to claim that it is necesary for Rockstar to release a Grand Theft Auto V game in 2011 or 2012. But I must note that he also thought it was necessary for them to release GTA V in 2010 also.
“We are confident that Take-Two will release GTA in either 2011 or 2012,” he wrote, adding that BioShock Infinite should be hitting in 2012 as well. Pachter added that it’s likely that Take-Two and Rockstar will wait to announce the game until the middle of 2011, either via Take-Two’s March earnings report or at E3.”
Earlier in February another analyst also chimed in on when he expected the game to be released. Doug Creutz claimed that a fiscal year 2012 release of GTA V is “highly unlikely”.
With all of these predictions someones got to be right.
